Jack and the Beanstalk...

What is wrong with kids books??  They're supposed to teach morality.  So I just got Alex the Best Bedtime Stories from Amazon yesterday... bound in leather.  This morning he woke up at 5:45 again, I lost the coin toss with M, so lacking any other ideas I got the book out and picked a story:  Jack and the Beanstalk.  That shit is fucked up!  Our broke hero cons his way into the Giant's house playing on the wife's sympathies, steals the Sack of Gold, blows the cash immediately with his clueless mom, is broke again, goes back to con them out of the Hen that lays the Golden Eggs, gets bored with being rich, goes back a third time to steal the Magic Harp for entertainment, and whacks the Giant to top it all off.  WTF???
